Just south of Ramsgate, you cross the Imbezane River to Southbroom, set in a cool and peaceful sub-tropical jungle alongside a deep lagoon. The beach is protected by by a rocky point and offers great swimming and surfing conditions. A restaurant overlooking the beach and lagoon is one of the finest spots for just relaxing and enjoying a nice cold beer and a good meal.

If you're a golfer it doesn't get much better than Southbroom Golf Club. Spectacular ocean views and the famous fourth hole offer some of the best whale and dolphin watching vantage points on the coast.

marina Beach, dubbed the 'Honolulu'of the South Coast, is yet another jewel in the South Coast's crown with a beautiful Blue Flag beach and tidal pool. It lies just south of Southbroom, across another picture-perfect river and lagoon system.

An endless string of hidden bays and coves north and south of Marina Beach provide opportunities for exploring.

South from marina Beach, the coast becomes a little 'wilder'with the holiday resorts of Trafalgar, Palm Beach, Glenmore and Leisure Bay attracting visitors with their beautiful beaches and well appointed camping and caravan parks.

Nature lovers must find time to visit the unique Trafalgar Marine Reserve with its 90 million year old fossil beds. In clear conditions an underwater reef provides an exciting snorkelling experience.

A few minutes drive from and bordering Trafalgar, you cross yet another river mouth and lagoon, the Mpenjati, part of a 66ha nature reserve protecting the unspoilt beach, beautiful lagoon and, wetlands, dune forests, grasslands and the abundant bushbuck and blue and grey duiker. Well marked trails provide exciting hiking opportunities.

Making your way to Port Edward you will pass through a string of secluded seaside hamlets, each with beaches that seem more beautiful than the last. Keep an eye out for interesting farm stalls and local crafters as the scenic countryside while Palm Beach, Munster, Glenmore and Leisure Bay roll into view.
